This internationally and industry recognised course provides students with comprehensive practical knowledge in all aspects of asbestos management, as well as an overview of surveying, removal/remediation, air sampling and clearance processes.
It is an ideal course for those who undertake any or all aspects of the day-to-day management of asbestos within their organisation.
Course Content
This course covers a broad range of asbestos-related topics, including:
- The nature of asbestos, its properties, and health effects
- Asbestos-containing materials (ACM) location in buildings
- Asbestos management plans (AMPs) and strategies
- The roles of all stakeholders, including surveyors, contractors, and analysts
The course uses a variety of teaching methods, including slide presentations, video, and practical tasks. A role-playing exercise at the end of the course combines all aspects of the syllabus and gives delegates a preview of the events they may experience at work.
All course materials are provided. Students are required to complete some independent study before attending the face-to-face instruction.
Course Duration
4 days of classroom time, 16 hours of online pre-course work is required before classroom time. 1 day of examinations.
Assessments
Students will be required to pass all of the following examinations
- Tutor practical
- Written Theory Examination (40 short answer questions) - 2 hours 20 minutes
- Written Practical Examination (35 questions basded on photographs, diagrams or extracts from relevant documentation) - 1 hour 40 minutes
Qualification and Certificates
A formal internationally recognised certificate is issued to successful students directly by the British Occupational Hygiene Society.
